Smart wifi IR paired with aircon device but tuya will not

OK folks
I have wifi smart IR unit
I have sucessfully connected an old window aircon unit with IR remote
I used the 'other' device and manually programmed the buttons to the app.
all works well using tuya app

Now...I cant link tuya to my alexa app.
I go to skills (alexa) find tuya smart...it says its linked, but I cant find the tuya smart wifi so as I can control the air con with alexa

What the hell am I doing wrong??

Open the device in the Tuya/SmartLife App and click on the 3 dots or pencil in the upper right corner.

There may be a section called 3rd party controls. If it works with Alexa, Alexa will be listed in that section.

If Alexa is not listed or the 3rd party section is not showing your device probably won't work with Alexa.
